Mindful yoga for wellbeing: Friday 19 to Sunday 21 March 2027
Join us for a weekend of mindful yoga, good food and time in nature as we welcome spring.
We’ll be staying at Velindre House, a beautiful eighteenth-century country house near Newcastle Emlyn in West Wales, designed by the Georgian architect John Nash, whose work also includes Buckingham Palace and Brighton’s Royal Pavilion.

Hidden at the end of a long drive and surrounded by five acres of gardens, woodland and meadow, it’s a peaceful place to slow down, switch off and enjoy the countryside.
Although it feels wonderfully secluded, Velindre House is around 4½ hours’ drive from London and is also accessible by public transport, with direct trains to Carmarthen followed by an hourly bus that stops outside the house.

There are just 11 guest places, creating a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Together we’ll enjoy yoga, walking, delicious home-cooked vegetarian meals, time outdoors and plenty of opportunity to rest.

There‘ll also be plenty of opportunities for good conversation over meals or by the fire if you’d like them. The weekend is designed to be simple, relaxed and welcoming. It’s a chance to enjoy nature, mindful movement and good company, and to return home feeling rested and refreshed.

The yoga is suitable for mixed abilities, including complete beginners. Sessions are steady and mindful, with a focus on moving well rather than stretching deeply.
We’ll explore good posture and alignment, moving with the breath, building strength, improving balance and finding ways of moving that feel steady and sustainable. The aim isn’t to do the most difficult poses but to move with greater ease, both on and off the mat.

On Friday evening there’s an optional introduction to mindful movement. We’ll explore how moving with the breath and focusing on posture rather than depth, as well as steadily building strength from the ground up, can support bone health and help us live well, whether you have normal bone density, osteopenia, osteoporosis or have never had your bone density checked.

During free time you might wander through the gardens, take a kayak out on the lake, enjoy the wood-fired sauna, visit the nearby village or curl up with a book and a cup of tea. There’s also a well-tuned piano and musical instruments if anyone feels like playing.

For anyone who enjoys walking, Ollie, the house’s gardener, forager and site manager, will lead a 90-minute guided nature walk, introducing us to the surrounding countryside, including rivers, waterfalls and local wildlife. There’s also a beautiful riverside walk just a five-minute drive away that can easily be explored independently.
Weekend programme
The outline below gives a sense of the weekend. Timings may change slightly as we finalise things.
The weekend is designed to be restorative rather than prescriptive. You’re welcome to join every yoga session or simply go with the flow.
Some guests may attend every session, while others may choose just a few, making time to relax, explore the grounds or unwind in the sauna. You’re encouraged to listen to your body and enjoy the weekend at your own pace.
