Reflective planning for life change

Beyond June 2026, I don’t expect to be providing these one-to-one transition services on an ongoing basis, although local yoga classes will continue. I’m increasingly focusing on community and prevention work through organisations, while continuing to explore the ideas behind these pages. I’ll be keeping them here and may occasionally have capacity for reflective planning conversations. I’m also open to partnerships that could help make this type of service more widely available. You can read more in this article here and in this longer blog.

Reflective planning for life transitions and moving home

This is for people moving through periods of change, whether chosen or unexpected. It usually begins with reflective, structured conversation to provide perspective and help you move forward with greater confidence.

This isn’t therapy or performance-focused coaching. It combines reflection, practical planning and action around significant life changes, which may include moving home.

The focus is not only on practical next steps but also on making sense of change internally, in line with your values and needs. Whether you’re feeling a bit stuck or wanting to initiate or better move through change, please get in touch if it would be helpful to have someone to think things through with.

Depending on the situation, this can include:

“Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards.”
— Søren Kierkegaard (1843)

Training and experience

I draw on experience across strategic planning, housing, writing and research, where I’ve facilitated conversations, workshops and interviews to explore issues, develop insight and inform change.

I’m also a yoga teacher and have completed accredited training in Cognitive Behavioural Coaching, Health and Wellbeing Coaching, and Performance Coaching, recognised by the Association for Coaching and the British Psychological Society.

Approach

I bring a thoughtful approach, drawing on reflective listening, strength-based support and strategic thinking. Conversations are calm and collaborative, providing space to explore thoughts, priorities and patterns, with a view to developing options and taking next steps in a way that feels sustainable.

Most people come with a specific decision or transition in mind, while possibly feeling a bit held back or uncertain about direction.

The approach acknowledges that external change, learning, adaptation and inner change are iterative, and that a greater sense of calm and clarity often emerge through movement rather than waiting until everything feels resolved.

You can read more about what to expect in our first session here.

“Thank you Tessa for such a warm and informative session that exceeded all my expectations. Your thoughtful and considered questions not only helped to clarify my thoughts, direction and needs; you also helped me walk away from the session with clear and actionable next steps. This is exactly what I needed at this time. Thank you for helping me to get to this point. Really appreciated your input and time taken to really listen and understand my goals.” (Sophia)

Practicalities

Sessions take place via phone or video call unless otherwise agreed. In-person sessions may be possible if you’re local.

While a single session can be useful, this kind of work often works best as a short-term process over three or so sessions, allowing time for reflection and action between meetings.
