Home & moving support

Facilitative support through home transitions

Moving home can take up a lot of headspace and easily become overwhelming, particularly when you’ve lived in the same place for a long time. This support is for people who are considering moving or in the midst of a move and want momentum, perspective and research-led support to help move things forward.

Many people choose to alternate between this support and reflection and planning conversations. For example, a month of research-led support during an active stage of moving, followed by a reflective conversation when a decision point is reached.

This is not a standalone service and not a full moving or admin offer. It usually forms part of an ongoing, time-limited relationship. My role is to bring strategic reflection, research and facilitation, helping you think clearly, progress decisions, and feel calmer during change.

I had a really positive experience with Tessa while exploring moving home: which areas might be a good fit, and what truly matters most to me. Tessa was knowledgeable, open, and honest, creating a supportive space that made the process feel clear and manageable. I felt genuinely heard and guided throughout, never pressured. I’d highly recommend her to anyone facing a similar decision.” (Mark)

What this support focuses on

This work is about maintaining momentum and perspective during a home move, rather than managing tasks or taking over decisions.

Support may include:

  • Area and property research to inform next steps
  • Making sense of information coming from agents, sellers or solicitors
  • Strategic reflection and planning at points where choices need to be made
  • Offering perspective during sales progression or moments of uncertainty
  • Light updates and check-ins to help keep things moving.

The emphasis is on supporting progress and wellbeing, as well as good decision-making, while you remain responsible for all choices.

How this support fits into ongoing work

We always begin with an initial chat to understand where you are and what would be most helpful.

From there, support is usually offered for a defined period, most often around 6.5 hours over a month (typically about 1.5 hours per week). This allows for continuity without the work becoming open-ended. We can agree what feels appropriate at the outset and review as things change.

We usually liaise by phone or video call, with research shared by email or message. However, some in-person time in your home is possible if you’re local.

“Wellbeing is the balance point between an individual’s resource pool and the challenges faced.” — Dodge et al. (2012)

What this support is not

To keep the work focused and sustainable:

  • This is not an estate agency, removal or concierge service
  • I don’t provide physical help such as packing, decluttering or DIY
  • I don’t act on your behalf in offers or negotiations
  • I don’t provide legal or financial advice.

Experience you can rely on

This support draws on experience across housing, planning and care-adjacent work:

  • Co-founding a small residential property business recognised for its human service
  • Strategic planning and consultancy work focused on place, housing and wellbeing.
  • Working as a yoga teacher and supporting people’s health and wellbeing.

The intention is to offer thoughtful support that makes a difference in small but meaningful ways, particularly at points where momentum matters.

Important notes

  • I do not provide financial or legal advice
  • I do not handle client money or provide physical moving help
  • If there is lack of clarity, I may occasionally offer to liaise with agents or solicitors to help coordinate information, with decisions always remaining yours.
