Reflective planning for life transitions and moving home
This is for people moving through periods of life change, whether chosen or unexpected, including moving home. It usually begins with reflective, structured conversation to provide perspective and help you move forward with greater confidence.
This isn’t therapy and it isn’t performance-focused coaching but reflective, solutions-focused planning and action for big life changes, which may include moving home.
The focus is not only on practical next steps but also on making sense of change internally, in line with your values and needs. Whether you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed or wanting to initiate or better navigate change, please get in touch if it would be helpful to have someone to think things through with.
Depending on the situation, this can include:
- Reflective planning conversations when something needs to shift (see below)
- Research and decision-making around moving home, including finding the right place and navigating the process
- Writing your personal story for clarity, catharsis, legacy or remembrance
- Gentle guided relaxation and movement alongside the above.
“Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards.”
— Søren Kierkegaard (1843)
Training and experience
I draw on experience across strategic planning, housing, writing and research, where I’ve facilitated sessions and interviews to explore issues, develop insights and inform and instigate change, as well as establish new approaches.
I’m also a yoga teacher and have completed accredited training in Cognitive Behavioural Coaching, Health and Wellbeing Coaching, and Performance Coaching, recognised by the Association for Coaching and the British Psychological Society.
Approach
I bring a thoughtful approach, drawing on reflective listening, strength-based support and strategic thinking. Conversations are calm and collaborative, offering space to explore thoughts, priorities and patterns, with a view to exploring options and taking next steps in a way that feels sustainable.
Most people come with a specific decision or transition in mind, while possibly feeling a bit overwhelmed, held back or uncertain about direction.
The approach acknowledges that external change, learning, adaptation and inner change are iterative, and that a greater sense of calm and clarity often emerge through movement rather than waiting until everything feels resolved.
You can read more about what to expect in our first session here.
“Thank you Tessa for such a warm and informative session that exceeded all my expectations. Your thoughtful and considered questions not only helped to clarify my thoughts, direction and needs; you also helped me walk away from the session with clear and actionable next steps. This is exactly what I needed at this time. Thank you for helping me to get to this point. Really appreciated your input and time taken to really listen and understand my goals.” (Sophia)
Practicalities
Sessions take place via phone or video call unless otherwise agreed. In-person sessions may be possible if you’re local.
While a single session can be useful, this kind of work often works best as a short-term process over three or so sessions, allowing time for reflection and action between meetings.
Summary
- Thoughtful, encouraging and goal-aware
- Reflective and action-oriented, recognising that clarity often emerges through movement
- Grounded in coaching principles but conversational and intuitive
- Flexible frequency (weekly, fortnightly or monthly)
- Adapted to your pace and priorities
- Work with a small number of people at a time.
If you’re unsure whether this is right for you, please get in touch for an initial call. We can talk through what’s bringing you here, and you can also ask any questions you have and get a feel for whether working together would be helpful.
While this work may touch on emotions, relationships and personal patterns, sessions provide reflective support to help you make tangible progress in terms of your life transition or home move, in a way that’s aligned with your values and needs.
